Orange Friday

Someone in the sporting world (i'm assuming that is where they came from) dreamed up College Colors Day. You know, where you represent your college of choice by wearing their colors. Clearly, Kinley's college of choice is Oklahoma State University. :)

This particular day the university did a photo contest on facebook. It had vague instructions for entering and voting but what better do the girls and I have to do??

This is the photo we entered.

We took this photo for our 2.5 year old friend Keaton, who was just diagnosed with leukemia and who also LOVES the OSU Cowboys.

a little close up
We didn't win anything but as I said the instructions were vague but they still got lots of 'likes'.
{call me biased but I think they should have, especially over the picture that did win ;) }

Later in the day, Kinley ended up like this......

That picture should be called:Kinley and spit up-3, Mom-0. Yep, I got it 3 times within 10 minutes. She was laying over my leg being burped when the first one happened. It got the chair pretty good. The next time I sat her up to be burped. Thus time it got my leg... real good. Like soaked my pant leg (good thing I was still in my jammies). When I got up to get a new burp cloth, I realized it had run down between my legs and soaked my crotch. Nice, huh?! So, Kinley ended up out of her college colors and in her diaper.

Tobie says, "I didn't spit up on the chair or my mom."

***these pictures are my attempts at good photography, bear with me as i pretend to be as good as Courtney.
a girl can pretend, right?!

1 Month Already?!

Disclaimer: I feel like this post is very unorganized but being that we are getting closer and closer to the next update, I want to make sure this gets posted. Since the blog was updated within the first few weeks,  chances are high that repeated information made this post. The 2 month update will be a little more organized, not so all over the place and posted in a more timely manner.  Now onto the pictures!

Take 1- remember this bow from her newborn pictures?
Where has the time gone?! Today you are a month old! It seems like yesterday that we were checking into the hospital to welcome you into the world.

Every day I look at you and am in awe that you came from inside me. I watch you in amazement that God made you so perfect for us (not that I don't think and know that He makes blessings everyday but that He chose us to be your mom and dad). I am so thankful that God chose me to be your mom.

As you can see from Take 1, it wasn't going so well. We stopped for a bite to eat.
Some days I still feel like I have no idea what I'm doing but you seem to be okay with that.

Take 2
Aside from your piranha like eating habits that usually last for an hour (when you 'sit at the bar') and are the cause for tender body parts, you are a relaxed and easy baby. You are eating every 2ish hours. Sometimes you hold out for longer, especially if you are napping with your Dad on the sofa-mobile. Dad was so excited to feed you your first bottle. Being that it was his first time, I was there to oversee the operation. You chugged that first bottle down like it was the last of the breast milk on the planet. Shortly after, you urped most of it up. From them on we had to pace your drinking, which makes you mad to stop and burp or just chill every now and then. When you take a bottle, you drink 3 ounces.

Big Sister, Tobie, waiting patiently while we took pictures
You are normally laid down to sleep for the night around midnight or 1 and sleep until 5 or 6. In the past month, I probably could have taken a picture of you and your daddy snoozing on the couch every night.

Now it's Tobie's turn to be in the pictures!
Snapping a picture with her Big Sister and future BFF (they are just both in denial right now)

You are still wearing newborn diapers and newborn clothes. As many clothes as you received, I think you did start re-wearing outfits. Even at that, they look so different on you since you are starting to fill out.

At your 2 week appointment, you weighed 8 lbs 5 oz and were 22 inches long.

This was Take 4 for this sticker and bow set. The picture that followed this one had spit up coming out of her mouth and nose, so we were finished with 1 month pictures.

One of the bargain frames I bought now has pictures!
baby pictures of Mom, Kinley, and Dad
(please disregard the fact that it looks like Preston and I were 90 when we had our first child. amazing how enhanced technology is now!)

Grandma Snow bought you your very first charm bracelet. Since your  nickname was Snowflake before you had a name, we suggested that your first charm be a snowflake.

When you went to school with me, you were kidnapped by Mrs. Holt. She caught you smiling in your sleep.

Again, the next post will be more organized.(the previous statement is made to so I will hold myself more accountable because this one drives me crazy!)

In the mean time, I will get over how crazy this post feels and soak up all the joys of being home with Miss Kinley's and getting to be her Mommy. I love sharing every minute of her life with Preston and couldn't ask for a better Daddy to my little Snowflake.

Newborn Pictures

In a previous post, you saw a glimpse into having newborn pictures taken. My sweet friend, Courtney, came over on her day off to take pictures of Miss Kinley. Tiffany also came as her assistant. A friend asked me, "What if the pictures don't turn out?" I responded with, "Did you see the pictures she took of us before Kinley was here? I'm not worried about it." Truthfully, I was worried about Kinley remaining in a sleepy state for the duration of pictures. The girls got to our house at 9 in the morning and didn't leave until 4:00! There were lots of feedings, diapering, posing, and eating of Chick-fil-a in that time.

She took over 1000 pictures and then narrowed it down to 150. They are all great but these are some of my favorites....

Our Little Snowflake

This one is probably my most favorite!

Our family of 4

She looks so snuggle here!

Sweet face!

Tiny little hand

Go Pokes!

Precious little feet

Big Sister was always checking on her!

This bow debuts at 9 days old. It will be seen again in monthly pictures.

LOVE.

Our family

I think this one is precious too!

Tobie wanted to make sure she wasn't left out of the kisses

I like how Tobie looks so proud here

Dad with his girls

This was at the very end of the day
She just looks so exhausted!
We can never thank Courtney enough for capturing all these amazing pictures!!!
Job well done, Sister!

Rounding out the first month -part 2

These pictures highlight the rest of our first month together. It is always so hard to look through pictures and only choose a few because Kinley looks a smidge different in each of them!

August 4th- Kinley is legit. She got her Social Security Card.
Your dad is so in love with you. I'm not sure he was ready to fall so hard for you.
This is their favorite position. I could snap a picture of this every night if I really wanted to. :)

Red-ish sunset due to fires that were only 15 miles away

August 5th- Big Sister camping out by Little Sister

So sweet!

8/5- The Liggett's came over to meet Kinley!
Tiffany came over with all these 'gay' Chick-fil-a cookieshave you had their cookies?!? they are damn gay!!!
{amid all the CFA controversy, my girls and i decided that gay means good.}

[don't know the CFA controversy? it all has to do with the christian owner stating he doesn't believe in gay marriage. shocker?! i think not. the company has always been open about its christianity. i mean they are closed on sunday too. that has nothing to do with chicken. why are people surprised now that he has made this statement? who knows. in my personal opinion, you can be gay, you can get married if you want. it doesn't have anything to do with me. in the mean time i'll be eating my CFA. :)]
Anywho, my cookies asked me a question and I said yes!

Monday, August 6th- further proof of a daily picture

She just fits right in perfectly

Tuesday, August 7th- Kinley got her first package in the mail

she looks really excited, huh?!

August 8th- what a precious little outfit

Tobie is sneaking in on her!

Friday, August 10th- Dad fed Kinley her first bottle

Chillin' in my chair

Saturday, August 11th- Kinley met Aunt BA while my sweet mother-in-law was here cleaning our house  so I could host bunco on Monday (she said and I quote: "it's always more fun to clean someone else's house." For a small fee, I will act as her agent and book her if you are interested. ;)
I offered her a job every other weekend and told her Kinley would pay her in snuggles.)

Kinley and I hanging while the cleaning action happened. I was told to stay put and  "take care of that baby and relax."
Kinley wouldn't smile so I decided to make a sad face with her.

What a sweet girl!

August 12th- Dad has a tendency to tuck Kinley into the couch

August 14th- They are so sweet together (Preston doesn't believe me but this is more proof)

You and I ventured out of the house for the first time together on Monday, August 13th. We went to school to work in my classroom. I'd say you weren't overly impressed because you slept most of the time we were there. That wasn't always the case though.

You spent some of your day in the sling. It seemed to remind you of your old womb.
Get it?!? old womb, instead of room???

Your Dad finally got Gus certified to drive you around. Who knows why he procrastinated so long to have his car seat checked in the truck?! Your first ride in Gus was on August 16th when Dad picked you up from the school house.

Next up... One Month Update!! Where did the time go?!
