Birthing Class- week 2

This week was movie week! Meaning we got to watch the video of a baby being born. A lot of the video was a digital take on it but we did get to see some real life stuff too. Hubby said it wasn't too bad but I think that will be a totally different story when he is actually there, live and in person.

Some of the things I saw, I could have done without {and will when it is my turn}...
-For some reason, I just don't think I am going to feel the urge to reach down there and feel her when she is on her way out.
-I also have no desire to have a mirror. I mean, that is just not for me.
-I also think I am okay with letting the doctor take care of pulling her out of there... that's what he went to school for, not me. Kourtney Kardashian, I am not!

One thing that Hubby giggling this week was when the video said after the shoulders are out, the rest kind of slides out like a fish. I don't know what about that was so funny but he was amused.

I laughed when the Asian lady said, "I was just so happy to hold my baby boy in my arm." ARM? Um, wait, you only have one? No you don't, I see two on the video right now! I don't know what the plural of words ever did to Asian people but I have noticed they don't use plurals very well. [my only other comparison to this is from American Idol when the guy didn't add the S to seasons, even after being told by the music producer to enunciate the S.]

Anyways, we just have 2 more weeks of class and only 70 days until Snowflake's due date!!!

Each year our local Rotary group has a meeting at our school. They are one of our Partners in Education and generally provide ice cream parties for our students. This year they helped fund Books, Burgers and Bingo, which was a very successful family night at school!


Anyways, kindergarten was asked to make place mats for lunch at the school. I am a big stickler on them filling up the page with color and using lots of details. Many of my kids had to go back to add details. :) Hopefully their first grade teacher will appreciate it.

Wednesday, May 2, marked 29 weeks!

The school year is coming to an end so there is a lot going on! 
Monday was our birthing class.
Tuesday, we walked our kindergarteners about 5 blocks to a farm to deliver (ie- get rid of!) our chicks. Then after school I had a TAPS meeting at school.
Wednesday is our American Idol watch party.
Thursday was the kindergarten field trip to the zoo.
Friday was too far away! We also left Friday night to head to Enid for a baby shower.
Saturday was the baby shower. Then we celebrated Pa and Hubby's birthday and headed home.
Sunday, Hubby had to usher at church and I was co-hosting a wedding shower in the afternoon. 


Whew!!! That was a lot!

Snowflake is already loved by so many people!

That little note says that she will be getting her very own stool with her  name and 'birth statistics' on it. the name pieces will also be a puzzle

Our little Snowflake is still quite the mover. On Monday at school, I had my hand on my side and she kicked it right off! She is not being as shy with her Daddy either. I don't know if that is because he can actually see her moving around without actually feeling it or if she is warming up to him.

He commented today that, "after next week, there will only be 2 more months!" I think Hubby is realizing there is no backing out now. ;) No matter how scared he may be, I know that he will be a great Daddy to our little girl. He is quite the helper, even when it comes to thank you notes. I have yet to sign his name to them and today he sealed, addressed, stamped, and return addressed all of them.

The coming week won't be quite as busy but it is the last week of school! Eeee! What will I do with myself?! Oh, I know. Try to get my room in some sort of organized fashion for my long-term sub to start off the school year in.

Birthing Class- week 1

So, we signed up for a 4 week birthing class. After one session, I am thinking we should have done the 'fast track' 1 day class.

PA- You may want to skip any posts titled Birthing Class. I mean, you don't appreciate the penis cookies, so you may not find as much humor in this as others. :) Just consider yourself warned if you choose to continue reading.

Someone said they would definitely need gum for next week because his cheek hurts from biting it so he wouldn't laugh. However, there was an older guy (meaning this is his 4th time around but the previous 3 were 16, 17 and 18 years ago) that chuckled and giggled more than Hubby. His wife sounds a little like Darth Vader when she breaths but maybe I shouldn't be saying anything, I might get there someday.

We learned about a variety of new things that grossed Hubby out, such as the mucous plug, another girl discussing her vaginal discharge after being asked by the teacher and then being informed that next week we will get to see the video of birth. Hubby said for future personal questions, he would like to do it "heads down, thumbs up style" so he doesn't have to know exactly who is talking.

The next three weeks should be interesting!

Wednesday, April 25th marked 28 weeks!

Our little Snowflake has been moving and shaking. I notice her more at night. I don't know if that is because I am on the go all day long or if she is just more of a night owl like her Mom. She still plays hard to get with her Dad. He has gotten to where he watches from a distance (sitting next to me) to see her shakin' around in there. When I do poke at my stomach to try to get her to move, he will poke at my face and say, "Do you like when I poke your face? That's probably what Snowflake feels."

 As I mentioned last week, it was a busy week. Truck Touch was a success and I am glad it is over. There will be another post about it... sometime. :)

My MIL was kind enough to bring my Nandy and Pa to the shower. I loved that they got to come celebrate Miss Snowflake with us. They haven't been over in a couple years so it was big day for them. From what I heard, Pa gabbed the whole over and back.

While we were in the room, Pa said, "I wasn't so sure about that color when you told me about it. But I really like it." Good to know we have his approval. ;)

The Hubby also celebrated his 30th birthday. It was really exciting.... well, maybe not. It was real low key. We went to the bank, got a couple wedding shower gifts, had lunch and then he wanted to come home for a nap. How old is he again?! 

His celebration started on Friday, when I took him balloons and a cake to work. The cake actually left the car. The balloons did not. :(

Of course, Tobie helped.

At school, I have a few little friends that will say, "Mrs. Snow, your belly is getting so big!" One day, I followed up with, "So is yours!" She quickly informed me that little kids don't have babies in their bellies. Now when I say it, she just laughs at me and says, "No, it's not!"

Ever since we got the lamp, Hubby goes in each night and turns it on for Miss Snowflake. When he goes to bed, he will normally shut it off and say she is going to bed too. She is such a lucky girl because he is going to be such a great Daddy to her when she makes her grand appearance. 

There are only 10 days of school left but they are sure to be busy ones!

Meet Molly...

She is a new addition to Snowflake's room. Molly was made by my Pa... many, many years ago. (like we're talking when I was in junior high). She was kept at Nandy and Pa's until we bought our house. Then she moved into the attic. Last night, she was given a place in the house.

Why? you might ask did Pa make my future unborn child a rocking horse when I was in junior high? Because that is when he made all of the grandkids a rocking horse, DUH! I still remember him making them. Somewhere there is even a picture at the beginning of the project when my Brother put their dog, Sooty, up on top to ride one of the rocking horses. 

Her dark color even matches the color of the furniture! I am sure she will get good use in the coming years!

Tour de Plant

While Dad and the In-laws were over for a visit on Easter, they were treated to a tour of Hubby's work.

I got to drive the golf cart! AND, I didn't hit or run over anyone or anything! I think I may have found a new career!

And that folks, is the end of the tour. It was actually pretty lengthy but I couldn't risk my future golf cart driving career to take too many pictures while driving! So, Pal, when you come to visit I can give you spin around the plant. :)
